Foliar

Privacy Policy

How Foliar handles your data

Overview

Foliar is an offline-first, private plant care app. Everything you add is stored locally on your device in an SQLite database. There is no account, no sign-up, and the app works fully offline. We do not collect, transmit, or have access to your data.

Data You Provide

All of the following is stored only on your device:

What We Do Not Do

Device Permissions

Foliar asks for permissions only when a feature needs them:

Notifications: to remind you when a plant is due for care. Reminders are scheduled locally on your device; no server is involved. You can decline or disable this at any time.

Camera and photo library: only when you choose to add a photo of a plant. Photos are copied into the app's local storage and are never uploaded anywhere.

Alarms & reminders (Android): so care reminders can fire at the time you chose. This permission is optional; without it, reminders may arrive with a short delay.

Backups and Exports

You can export your data as a ZIP file from within the app. This export is created on your device and shared only where you choose to send it (for example, your own cloud drive). The export file is not encrypted, so treat it like any personal file. Importing a backup reads the file locally; nothing is transmitted.

Data Retention and Deletion

Because all data is on your device, you are in full control:

We cannot delete your data for you, and we cannot recover it, because we never have it.

Website

This privacy page is a static page hosted on khaldoun.dev. It does not use tracking cookies.

Children's Privacy

Foliar does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Future Changes

If a future version of Foliar introduces features that change these practices (for example, optional banner ads, or optional AI features that call an external provider), this policy will be updated before those features ship, and the changes will be clearly described. The core promise will not change: your plant data stays on your device and is never sold or shared.
