How MealTime handles your data
Overview
MealTime is designed to respect your privacy. The app does not track you and does not upload your recipe data to external servers.
Accounts are optional and only required for the shared grocery lists feature.
Data Storage
All recipes, categories, and local grocery lists are stored on your device. MealTime does not sync your recipes to the cloud.
If you use shared grocery lists, only that list data is synced to enable collaboration. Your recipes remain fully local.
Personal Data
MealTime does not collect personal information for your core recipe experience.
If you choose to create an account for shared lists, your email address is stored securely on our servers. This information is used only for authentication and is never shared with third parties.
Analytics & Tracking
MealTime does not use tracking SDKs or behavioral profiling inside the app. Your usage of the app is not monitored or analyzed.
This website uses Umami, a privacy-focused, open-source analytics tool. Umami does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track you across sites. All data is aggregated and anonymous.
Advertising
MealTime displays ads, provided by Google AdMob.
To show them, AdMob uses your device's advertising identifier. This is an ID that belongs to your device rather than to you, it is shared with Google as the ad provider, and you can reset or delete it at any time in your device settings under Privacy or Ads.
MealTime itself does not build a profile of you, does not track what you cook, and does not send your recipes, grocery lists or any personal details to advertisers.
If you would rather see no ads at all, the app offers a one-off way to switch them off for a few days by watching a short video, entirely at your choice.
Third-Party Services
MealTime uses only essential third-party services required for basic functionality, such as advertising, local notifications, and anonymous website analytics (Umami).
If you use shared lists, data is stored on MealTime's servers to enable real-time collaboration. This data is not shared with third parties and is not used for tracking.
AI Features
MealTime's AI features are optional and use your own API key from a provider you choose: Google (Gemini), OpenAI or DeepSeek.
When you use them, the text or photo you are importing is sent directly from your device to that provider, and your key is stored only on your device. These requests do not pass through MealTime's servers, and we never see the content or your key.
What the provider then does with that content is governed by their terms, not ours. One case is worth stating plainly: on Google's free Gemini tier, Google may use the content you send to improve its models, and human reviewers may read it. Paid keys are excluded from that. If you would rather your content was not used this way, use a paid key or a different provider.
Deleting Your Account

Changes
If this privacy policy changes in the future, the updated version will be made available within the app and on this website.
